All Specialties Benefit From Learning Cross-over Skills

Like the other procedures we have chosen, you will learn many crossover surgical skills and techniques with each case. All learners can appreciate the advanced skills taught at this class regardless of surgical service line. As you perform all procedures, you will be required to apply many of the techniques you learned from the previous day. Our procedures teach you how to handle various surgical situations with confidence and fundamentals that can be applied to multiple surgical opportunities and specialties. You will also learn surgeons throws and start mastering, one, two, and instrument knot tying techniques. Inevitably, your surgeon may request that you tie many ways, no matter what your specialty or surgical opportunity. Each day also gets you more involved and engaged in an all-important suturing techniques.

“The NIFA workshop was a fantastic experience covering everything from the basics of first assisting to Advanced Surgical Skills taught by experts in the field. As a PA student, I was one to build on skills only briefly covered in school. The workshop covered techniques applicable to every Surgical subspecialty that PAs practice in. I would highly recommend this course to anyone looking to advance their surgical skills!”

“As a PA who only goes into the OR twice a month, this class was helpful to build my confidence with knot-tying, suturing, and even holding instruments. I would recommend this class to PAs new to surgery or wanting more practice with the above. All of the instructors were helpful with answering our questions and giving tips and tricks!”

Erin M., PA-C

“Real-time feedback instruction from FAs of different backgrounds is truly invaluable. I feel that I’ve learned so many new techniques that I can see myself using every day for the rest of my career. I feel so much more comfortable and competent than when I started this workshop.”
